What is CVS?
Computer Vision Syndrome is the straining of the eyes whilst working for long periods of time at a computer screen. 50-90% of people who work on computers show symptoms of CVS. This can cause discomfort and fatigue. Things that may impact this are:
- your seat positions
- Your screen brightness
- Screen angle
- The length of time you are working at the computer
The symptoms
- Achy eyes
- Fatigue
- Watery eyes
- Dry eyes
- Blurred vision
- Headaches
- Neck & shoulder pain
The solution
Doctors suggest having an eye test once every two years. If you feel like you are showing these symptoms, then you should get your eyes checked as soon as possible. Eye tests are an average of £20. Some opticians may do tests for free or are commonly paid for by the company you work for.
