We are proud to announce that Gary Weaving, a former Royal Engineer with the British Army, and Anthony Knight, a retired Lieutenant Commander from the Royal Navy, both received awards for their work with Forgotten Veterans UK (FVUK).
Nic Cronin, Managing Director at Matrix IT said: ‘It was an absolute pleasure watching both Gary and Anthony receive their awards. We are proud to have Forgotten Veterans UK as a customer and we will continue to support them with their IT and charity fundraising activities.”
The recognition comes from the International Society for Peace Work (IGFVT), a private organisation with members worldwide that recognises humanitarian support and disaster relief work.
Gary, founder and chief executive of FVUK, was awarded the Order of Merit 2nd Class recognising civilian and humanitarian service.
This award reflects his personal journey with mental health and his campaign to change the world for veterans.
While Anthony, director of clinical therapy at FVUK, was awarded the Order of Merit 2nd Class with Swords, recognising military and humanitarian service.
Anthony’s contribution to humanitarian support covers a period of 45 years, with his military career as well as his work to support veterans and the Covid-19 vaccine rollout in Portsmouth.
The award was presented by the former First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Jonathon Band, a deputy lieutenant for Hampshire, with the lord mayor and lady mayoress of Portsmouth in attendance.
