A WELL-known figure who has had a “huge influence” in Hampshire’s IT sector has been tempted out of retirement.
Fareham-based IT business Matrix has hired Nigel Taylor, founder of Taylor Made, in what the business called a “major coup”. Mr Taylor established Taylor Made almost 30 years ago and sold it in 2018 to Peach Technologies. He has joined Matrix IT to work alongside managing director Nic Cronin. The business is at Cams Hall, where Taylor Made started.
He said:
“I’ve had four years doing different projects but to be honest Nic and I started talking and we felt I still had value I could bring to his business. My main role will be spreading the word about Matrix who share so many of the values we had during my days at Taylor Made. As an added bonus, I was thrilled to hear that many of my former Taylor Made colleagues are now with Matrix so I’m looking forward to linking up with them again.”
Matrix IT was formed by Nic Cronin and his now-retired father John in February 2003, originally operating from his spare room. Within a year, the company had moved into offices.
Mr Cronin said:
“Since those humble beginnings we have attracted great talent, achieved ISO 27001 certification, which is the gold standard of IT cyber security, and built a robust IT services business. We also share the belief that IT is not simply a ‘must have’ for a business like, say, electricity. Properly harnessed, IT can be key to a business’s prosperity and growth.”
Mr Taylor added:
